Finding Tales of Tribute

To be able to play ToT, you have to unlock the game and play through the tutorial. For that, you can talk with Sorrine Gaerard in main cities across Tamriel or skip and go straight:

  1. Travel to Gonfalon Bay in High Isle.
  2. Speak to Brahgas, a Wood Elf who is standing outside the Gonfalon Gaming Hall.
  3. Accept his quest, "A New Venture."
  4. Complete the quest, which will teach you the basics of the game and give you four starter decks.

⭐ Choosing the decks

Before starting the game, each player chooses two decks/patrons, in a total of 4 patrons. These define which decks will be played by both players during the match. Some decks synergise better with others, so this step is crucial to get some advantage over your opponent.

The order of choosing against other players is always: -1st deck from Player A -2nd deck from Player B -3rd deck from Player B -4th deck from Player A

💯 The table

Once the patrons are chosen, you are presented with the playing table. Let’s go through the different parts of it:

The game table is divided 4 parts:

  • your cards, on your side of the screen (3-7)
  • your opponets' cards, on the top of screen
  • the tavern, with card available to purchase for both players, at the center (1-2)
  • the patrons, on the right-side (8), and hourglass turn giver (12)

Each player's cards is divided in five parts

  • The drawing deck, facing down (left) (3)
  • The hand play, only visible to you (center bottom) (5)
  • The long-term played cards on the table, facing up for both players (4)
  • The played cards on this round (right top pile) (6)
  • The cooldown deck, facing down (right bottom pile) (7)

The Board

🔥Objective and currencies

The objective of the game is to win! shocking

You can win by:

  • Reaching 40 points of prestige (blue) before your opponent (10)
    or
  • Gaining the favour of the four patrons.

You also have two other currencies: 🪙 Gold (yellow) (9) used to buy cards and interact with patrons 🦾 Power (red) (11) used to destroy opponents cards, interact with patrons, and transform in prestige

🤑 The treasury and Patrons

The patrons on the right side of the table can be engaged once per turn (unless special cards are played), and have specific conditions and effects. You can see next to the patrons how many patron engagements you or you opponent can do in each turn. Knowing when to use the patrons is a key success in the game. Patrons have 3 stages, and their actions towards you can vary depending on the stage:

Favour - it turns to you Neutral - it turns to the left, no benefits to anyone Unfavoured - it turns to your opponent

To turn a patron, you need to pay the required amount required for each patron. It can be power or gold, and you might even have to meet specific requirements. If someone manages to turn the 4 patrons to favour, the game is immediately won.

The treasury exists among the patrons and is present in all plays. As it says, the treasure transform any card in a 2 gold value card. It counts as a patron usage, so if you use treasure you are not able to turn a patron in normal conditions.

In the following example, the first and last patrons are still neutral, the second favours the opponent, and the third favours the player. In this case, the player has no more patron turns (has shown by the zero). We can see as well that the first 3 patrons require a payment in power, and the last one is in gold.
